In July 2020 he announced his retirement from professional cricket with 120 ODI’s, 29 tests and 24 T20’s to his name. He had a good career but was not a consistent performer for the team.

Irfan Pathan has always been a regular member of the IPL sides. He debuted with Punjab based Kings XI Punjab franchise. Irfan went on to play for Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings, Rising Pune Supergiants, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Lions. He played 103 IPL matches throughout his career and took 80 wickets and also amassed 1139 runs in the tournament.
He has started the cricket academy of Pathans alongside his brother Yusuf Pathan who has also been a professional cricketer for India and a regular member of different IPL franchises. The academy has a tie-up with Kapil Dev as a mentor and is helping young cricketers to help them get to the bigger stage.
